Portrait artists have the stunning ability to paint and draw peoples’ likenesses. In the scheme of things, this is one of the most powerful abilities a representational artist has. In our Southwest Art Collector’s Guide to Portraiture & Portrait Artist Rising Stars, you get a roadmap to this genre and knowledge of an exciting and talented cadre of artists working today who create powerful portrait drawings, watercolors, oil paintings, and more.
You will find artists like Mary Qian whose oil painting portraits capture particular places and the undeniable spirits of her sitters. You’ll be introduced to the work of Walt Wooten who creates extraordinary portraits of Native Americans that are out of time and place, and have powerful messages underlying them on what it is to belong and to search.
You will also see a chapter devoted entire to male portrait painting and why that particular area of exploration draws so many artists to it. You will find the simple but stunning work of Aaron Westerberg alongside that of Huihan Liu, both of whom explore oil portraits in incredible ways. It is all there for you in the Southwest Art Collector’s Guide to Portraiture & Portrait Artist Rising Star. Download and enjoy!
