Style & Inspirations: My style attempts to emulate the French academic approach to representational art with inspirations drawn from late-19th- and early-20th-century realist painters like Eugene de Blaas, George Dunlop Leslie and William Bouguereau among others.
Art Education: I obtained most of my education through online videos from Watt’s Atelier and various representational art textbooks…I’ve also received brief tutelage from Ben Young and Lucas Bononi.
Best Art Advice Received: “One becomes what they practice.” I’m not entirely certain where I heard the quote, but it emphasizes the importance of following proven methods to systematically achieve a desired result rather than arbitrarily wandering toward a goal; why reinvent a thoroughly studied discipline when highly successful processors provide a path to mastery?
Favorite Studio Music: I usually listen to classical music or podcasts to soothe any anxiety before a (hopefully) productive session.
Favorite Work by Another Artist: Though it’s difficult to select one, I often find myself enamored by Alex Venezia’s narrative paintings, especially UNCERTAIN.
Artistic Goals: My ultimate goal is to perpetually deepen and reinforce my academic knowledge to better understand the visual world as well as consistently execute immersive, inspirational, story-driven paintings.
Other Passions: Beyond art, I’m also passionate about fiction and orchestral composition. I dream to someday publish novels and for live orchestras to perform my music.
Price Range: $200-$3,100
