Style & Inspirations: My journey into painting began with learning plein air from Phyllis Shafer. Other inspirations include Maynard Dixon, David Hockney, Rockwell Kent, The Group of Seven, Emily Carr, Giotto, Artemisia Gentileschi and many more.
Art Education: I received a BA in anthropology, art history and art from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and am currently pursuing my Master of Fine Arts there.
Best Art Advice Received: Don’t be afraid to wipe away the marks you just put on the canvas if they are not working, and step back from your painting.
Favorite Studio Music: I listen to a lot of podcasts while working including Stuff You Missed in History Class, 90 Miles from Needles, The Huberman Lab and The Hidden Third.
Favorite Work by Another Artist: One of my favorite paintings is HOME OF THE DESERT RAT by Maynard Dixon.
Artistic Goals: Some of my artistic goals include participating in artist residencies in extraordinary locations like Antarctica and Alaska.
Other Passions: I love all things Lady Gaga and traveling (especially to Italy). Recently I got into rock climbing.
