Aubree Snook, 27 WYOMING
Style & Inspirations: I grew up on a ranch in Eastern Montana, which gave me a deep connection to the vastness and scale of the American West, its unpredictable light and the expressive possibilities of color. My years professionally designing and producing signage pushed my work toward something graphic and realistic, bold in composition but honest to the feeling of the West and the life in it.
Art Education: I’ve been serious about art since age 12, and went on to earn an associate’s degree in graphic and web design.
Best Art Advice Received: Keep creating no matter what; the artists who succeed are simply the ones who never gave up.
Favorite Studio Music: My studio playlist is all over the place: old school hip hop, classic rock, bluegrass and metal. I love listening to music that fits the mood of my painting.
Favorite Work by Another Artist: Ed Mell’s SWEEPING CLOUDS is a painting I keep coming back to. His handling of the Western sky feels almost sculptural, which I find inspiring.
Artistic Goals: My goal is to continue growing technically with oil paint, pushing toward stronger atmospheres and greater control over light. Beyond the studio, I hope to reach more people through my work and expand my presence in galleries and shows.
Other Passions: I love camping and hiking with my dog. I’m happiest in the middle of nowhere with a good view, and I’m grateful to live in a place with so much natural inspiration.
