Style & Inspirations: I see impressionism as the foundation of my style. I also find inspiration in a lot of tonalist work.
Art Education: I received a BFA in illustration from Brigham Young University in 2022. My education there included studying with David Dibble, whose mentorship has helped me immensely.
Best Art Advice Received: When I first met David, he lent me a plein air painting setup from the university and told me I should paint outside as much as possible. I’ve since received similar advice from other artists whose work I love, and it has been rewarding in many ways.
Favorite Studio Music: One album I keep coming back to while painting is Hania Rani’s On Giacometti. I like a lot of other mellow instrumental stuff as well.
Favorite Work by Another Artist: Tough to nail down a single favorite, but THE NIGHT FOLLOWS CLOSE by George Carlson is definitely one of my favorite paintings.
Artistic Goals: The goal is to make painting my full-time work. I would love to be able to devote more time to developing my artistic voice and making bigger and bolder paintings.
Other Passions: My biggest passion is spending time with my wife and daughter. We all really enjoy being outside together.
