21 Under 31 – 2023 | Abigail Albano-Payton, 24 TEXAS
Style: Mainly figurative work that has implied or full-on environments. I’ve also been passionate about the symbiotic relationship we have with plants and include them in a lot of my work.
Creative Spark: My creativity didn’t feel tapped into until I began straying away from painting subject matters that were expected of me as an artist.
Art Education: I graduated from Laguna College of Art and Design in 2021 with my bachelor’s degree in drawing and painting.
Best Art Advice Received: Embrace the uncertainty for how a piece will turn out. Where’s the fun in planning every single step?
Favorite Studio Music: The music I play in my studio really depends on my mood! I’ll listen to anything…except country music.
Favorite Work by Another Artist: My favorite work is really anything produced by Hamilton Kareem-Anthony. His homage to family/home life makes me emotional with his usage of strong contrasts and subtle mixed media.
Artistic Goals: My ultimate artistic goal is to one day help others use art as a healing tool. I’d love to see these types of programs be more accessible for both children and adults.
Other Passions: My other passions run deeply in mental health, travel, reading and plants.
Price Range: $665-$12,750
