21 Under 31 – 2023 | Alexandra Hansen, 28 WYOMING
Style: Western contemporary art with deconstructed elements and stippling.
Creative Spark: I find inspiration in three areas: international travel, the Western lifestyle and the works of great artists such as Leonardo da Vinci who have preceded me.
Art Education: Two years in art education from Oklahoma State University and continuous education through workshops.
Best Art Advice Received: The mark of truly exceptional artists lies in their ability to persist through the challenging stages of a painting and achieve their desired outcome.
Favorite Studio Music: It depends on the mood I want to convey. When I aim for a light and airy atmosphere, I prefer classical music. In contrast, when working on a bold and angular piece, I opt for pop, rap or dubstep.
Favorite Work by Another Artist: At present, I draw inspiration from the works of Mary Jean Ruhnke. Meanwhile, the sculptures of Johnson Tsang have left a profound impact on my soul and will continue to inspire me for a lifetime.
Artistic Goals: First, to expand my network and establish connections with more galleries. Second, I aim to keep creating art that is true to my heart, telling the stories of the West through my perspective, and engage in meaningful conversations with people about how my work resonates with them.
Other Passions: Being active in my community, creating and selling small businesses, paddle boarding, pickleball and time with my husband and dogs.
Price Range: $500-$6,000
