Style: I would describe my style as contemporary figuration; I create figurative work based on my cultural upbringing (Mexican American).

Art Education: I received my BFA in drawing and painting from California State University, Long Beach.

Best Art Advice Received: To be successful in the art world, you can’t just rely on your studio practice; you need to take advantage of networking opportunities, be an advocate for yourself and learn how to navigate the business side of your art practice.

Favorite Studio Music: My favorite studio music is Los Bukis, they are classic Mexican band that plays “Gruperas”.

Favorite Work by Another Artist: Liu Xiaodong and Zoey Frank are two painters I admire.

Artistic Goals: I would love to have some of my work in the collection of a museum, on display for my community to enjoy.

Other Passions: I am a full-time teacher at the high school level, so working with my students is one of my passions outside of art.
