Nathaniel Garza, 20 TEXAS

Style & Inspirations: My work is rooted in Western art, drawing inspiration from the landscapes, wildlife and storytelling traditions of the American West. I am influenced by both classical masters like Albert Bierstadt and contemporary artists who capture the untamed beauty of nature.

Art Education: I graduated from Alamo Heights High School and studied with Elizabeth Locke for a seasonal period. I’ve attended workshops with Jack Sorenson and Kyle Ma and now study foundations with Janice Hindes, though much of my artistic journey has been self-taught.

Best Art Advice Received: The best advice I received came from Sorenson: “Put your heart into your art.” It shaped my approach and deepened my connection to my work.

Favorite Studio Music: Music in my studio ranges from country and EDM to progressive rock.

Favorite Work by Another Artist: One of my favorite works is AMONG THE SIERRA NEVADA, CALIFORNIA (1868) by Albert Bierstadt, a masterpiece that captures grandeur and light.

Artistic Goals: My goals as an artist is to continue sharing my work through exhibitions, auctions, museums and galleries. I am working on expanding to new regions and areas to explore painting.

Other Passions: Other passions are that I love to cook, I stargaze and cloud-gaze often, and I also love photography. I love to take pictures of nature and animals while hiking, and I enjoy spending time with my family as well as my pets which are two dogs and two sun conures.
