Style: My subject matter is representational and often partially imagined. I usually paint tightly rendered forms in designed, highly saturated environments.
Creative Spark: Loving plants that grow near me and my relationship with my body have been what’s kicked off my recent work. Dutch Golden Age still lifes are my touchstone lately.
Art Education: I’m studying to earn my BFA in drawing and painting from Laguna College of Art and Design.
Best Art Advice Received: “At the end of the day, you’re alone in a room making your work. You have to be happy with what you’re making in there—so you might as well follow your own voice.”
Favorite Studio Music: My favorite studio music is indie pop and alternative. I really like Flipturn and Fleet Foxes right now.
Favorite Work by Another Artist: My favorite work by another artist right now is Parting the Red Sea by my good friend, Annie Louise Goldman. She has a fearless way of adding more and more content to her paintings as she makes them, and the results are unleashed, wildly imaginative pictures. I love them, and Parting the Red Sea is an example of this.
Artistic Goals: Make something that makes someone else feel seen.
Other Passions: Going for plant walks (hikes where I try to spot wildflowers).
Price Range: $800-$10,000
