Ryan Gondarowski, 27 CONNECTICUT
Style & Inspirations: I find painting from life exciting with all the possibilities and nuances offered by nature. My work follows a strict academic style that is grounded in classical training and observation.
Art Education: I am an alumni of the Academy of Realist Art in Boston, where I studied from 2015 to 2022.
Best Art Advice Received: Don’t wait to be “ready” to create original work. You’re never really “ready”—start making personal, expressive or conceptual work now. Let technical growth run parallel to your creative exploration.
Favorite Studio Music: I love listening to indie music from bands like Peach Pit or Young Man Winter.
Favorite Work by Another Artist: SIMPLON PASS by John Singer Sargent. The brushwork is absurd, and it played a big role in sparking my interest in landscape painting.
Artistic Goals: I hope to create more large, life-size paintings designed to maximize visual impact. My main inspiration since beginning painting has been massive works seen in museums that command the attention of all those who come near.
Other Passions: I love collecting rocks, sticks and wild clay while on hikes.
