Timari Blanke, 21 CALIFORNIA
Style & Inspirations: My biggest inspiration as an artist is Alphonse Mucha, and (I think subconsciously) Scott Hess.
Art Education: I recently graduated magna cum laude with a BFA from Laguna College of Art + Design.
Best Art Advice Received: Don’t be afraid to create; as an artist’s technical skill and taste grows, it’s easy to stop. Don’t do it, make art, make bad art, but do not keep your ideas in your head.
Favorite Studio Music: I typically listen to Fiona Apple or a musical soundtrack while painting.
Favorite Work by Another Artist: I have so many vastly different favorite works, but one that I’ve always felt connected to and loved visually is PORTRAIT OF LILI ELBE by Gerda Wegener.
Artistic Goals: In terms of painting, I want to explore the ideas in my head and things that are part of our world. I want to create things that will bring people both discussion and joy.
Other Passions: I love animation and would love to be part of a Cartoon Saloon or Laika production someday. I also love acting, and am interested in making puppets for a professional theatrical production.
