California

Art Education: I studied illustration for three years at Brigham Young University. I focused on anatomy and drawing the figure from life and was privileged to study under Robert Barrett and Michael S. Parker.Style: Representational realism. I’m not sure I’ll ever create anything as beautiful as the human body, but I’m committed to trying and to working to add just a bit more beauty to the world.Second-Choice Career: Medical illustrator.Other Passions: Reading, hiking, biking, camping, cooking, and eating. My husband is an avid fisherman, and one of our favorite things to do is to find a nice spot where he can fish and I can set up my plein-air easel.Best Advice Received: Casey Childs once told me, “Be so good they can’t ignore you.”Quirkiest Trait: I don’t enjoy listening to music in the studio.Mantra or Motto: “Better busy than bored!”Favorite Work by Another Artist: BREATH OF LIFE (FROM THE DUST) by J. Kirk Richards. His rock-solid understanding of anatomy allows him to experiment with edge quality and obfuscate parts of the figure while it still remains clear.Future Goals: For now, the plan is to keep studying under living masters. One day I would love to open an atelier dedicated to the study of the figure.Price Range: $300 to $3,500.Representation: www.rrchristensenfineart.com.
