Giacobbe-Fritz Fine Art, Santa Fe, NM December 8-31

It’s the Holiday season, and that means Giacobbe-Fritz Fine Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico, is celebrating its talented represented artists with the 24th edition of its Small Works Holiday Show. This exhibition features new works measuring up to 20 by 20 inches, but have a range in subject matter and style. Collectors—buying for themselves or as gifts—will find pint-sized sculptures and fabulous two-dimensional works that suit any collection.

“As I reflect on our 24-year journey, I am filed with a sense of awe and immense pride,” says gallery owner Deborah Fritz. “It’s a remarkable feat to have completed 24 years in this ever-evolving art industry. During this period, we’ve persevered through challenges, embraced opportunities and continued to provide a platform for artists to express their creativity.”

The artwork in the exhibition, while smaller scale, shows off the individual achievements and approaches of each participating artist.

Melinda K. Hall’s charming 6-by-6-inch painting VINTAGE BOOT COLLECTION #2 gives a touch of the West to the exhibition by spotlighting the beauty of cowboy boots and some of its likely accessories. JC Spock’s mixed media landscape PASTURE & PEAKS features a collage of items with a finely rendered scene. It has many spots for the eyes to wander and discover what is peeking out from beneath.

Several wildlife works will charm, such as the simplistic horse painting PUFFS, by Katrina Howarth, and the aptly titled PORTRAIT OF A LAMB, by Deb Kaylor. Mary Alayne Thomas, however, relies on storytelling in her wildlife-themed watercolor and encaustic work. Her piece THE PASSAGE GLIMMERED UNDER THE FULL MOON depicts a deer at center with an owl atop its antlers. The surrounding flowers and the orange-like moon add to the touch of whimsy.

Other creatives with art on display include Bruce Cascia, Geoffrey Gorman, Rebecca Haines and Sandra Pratt.

Fritz adds, “The longevity of our business is a testament to the strength of our relationships with our artists and collectors, the quality of art we present and our unwavering commitment to the enrichment of our community through art.” —Rochelle Belsito
