In August 2011, the Schoharie Valley in New York was devastated by flooding from Hurricane Irene. Far inland from the coast, Schohaire Creek rose above its banks and flooded local towns and fields; destroyed crops; drowned livestock; contaminated food and water sources; and destroyed roads, bridges, homes, and businesses.

Local artist Jonathan Stasko, moved to help his community in the aftermath of such extensive destruction, reached out to fellow artists to help him. In response, more than 20 emerging and nationally known artists have offered assistance, and Stasko is organizing an online sale of nearly 100 of their artworks to benefit relief efforts. The Lasting Impressions Charity Art Sale begins November 19 and continues until January 31. All prices are fixed, and works are sold on a first-come-first-served basis with proceeds going to Schoharie Recovery (www.schoharierecovery.org). Participating artists include Daniel Keys, Kathy Anderson, Marci Oleszkiewicz, Taaron Parsons, Eric Suchowesky, and Brian Jekel, to name just a few.
